Every dad's worst nightmare

Nov 26, 2008

Today, I witnessed every father's worst nightmare: sending a teenager off on her first date. Yes, I know I'm not a parent, but I was the one who dropped my sister off at the restaurant where a boy (who by the way, I have never met before) stood waiting.

I was the one texting her throughout dinner to make sure she was ok.

I was the one who got worried when she didn't emerge from the entrance to Nordstrom at exactly 9:30, or well, 9:36 or whatever ( I was a little late myself, ok!)

...and I was the one who got upset when the boy didn't come meet me.

Dad, I respect you so much more right now. Thanks for letting me date...even if you did threaten the last guy with a shotgun and a shovel!
